Two companies under Bernhard Capital Partners ownership will combine to form a company that will enlist 6,000 employees throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico, The Advocate reports. Wink Engineering firm and KBR Inc., an industrial services group from Houston, will now form Brown & Root Industrial Services in Baton Rouge.
The company will welcome 25 executive employees to its Baton Rouge headquarters this year, along with another 25 next year, and pay them an average annual salary of $192,000. Partners from Wink and KBR will hold equal management over the new company.
The newly-formed Brown & Root will specialize in servicing refineries, petrochemical, chemical and manufacturing plants. The Louisiana Department of Labor expects the venture to bring 550 new jobs to the area, earning the governor’s blessing.
“We’re proud that this venture will create hundreds of great new jobs for families in our capital and throughout the state of Louisiana,” Gov. Bobby Jindal said.
In addition to the Wink-KBR conjunction, Bernard Capital’s Epic Piping is expected to acquire KBR’s pipe fabrication facility in Canada, where it will hold minority interest in Epic and generate up to $32 million in profits from the purchases.
